We get a lot of questions about websites and the costs associated with it. So we wanted to provide some basic information that can answer some of these common questions.

The domain is the address of your website such as www.somechurch.org. There are a lot of companies that can host your website domain. Once a website is completed, the domain gets pointed to the website address. The cost for a domain ranges somewhere between $20 to $25 per year.

When you register a domain, you choose the ending of the domain. Most businesses utilize a .com ending while most non-profits use a .org ending. While it is your choice, we recommend a church utilize a .org ending.

Hosting fees are the payments made to a company that stores your website data. This can range depending on the provider and what is included within their service.

Each church should have at least one email that ends with their domain. While many use free services such as a gmail account, having at least one adds credibility to your church. If you choose to do bulk emails, it needs to be sent from a professional email address.

When you create a new website changes need to be made to the domain so it points to the new site. This is done in the DNS (Domain Name Serves) so it points to the new site.
